A lot of new opportunities for Gujarat-based companies are on the horizon as a delegation of more than hundred Chinese companies from Zhejiang, China visits Ahmedabad tomorrow to explore trade & investment opportunities with Gujarat. The trade delegation is led by Mr Xia Baolong, Party Secretary of Zhejiang Province, the senior most political leader of the Province. The primary goal is to explore joint venture opportunities with Gujarat based companies at the industrial park which will be set up under the MOU between Indian & Chinese government for the Chinese companies in Gujarat

Jagat Shah, Secretary General,  China India Trade & Investment Centre (CITIC)“After the visit of Chinese President to Ahmedabad and the meeting with Indian PM Narendra Modi following the signing of MOU between India & China on setting up industrial park in Gujarat, this is the first major group of companies who have come to Gujarat to look for setting up their factory under “Make in India” in Gujarat”, said Mr Jagat Shah, Secretary General, China India Trade & Investment Centre (CITIC).

Commenting the trade potential, Mr Shah said that currently Indian exports to China is US$ 14 billion that can go up by 20 per cent if Chinese companies starts manufacturing in India & if Govt of India starts MDA & MAI schemes for China.

This visit would significantly contribute in supporting Prime Minister’s “Make in India” initiative and would promote bilateral investment and trade relations between the two Countries & the two provinces of Zhejiang & Gujarat.

Zhejiang Province is one of the most prosperous regions of the country with its GDP exceeding that of many European countries. The business delegation is comprised of sectors like : Agriculture, Automobile & Auto Components, Banking & Finance, Chemical, Construction & Building Materials, Electrical, Environment, Food & Beverages, Furniture, Health Care / Cosmetics, Industrial Products, Information Technology, Infrastructure & Real Estate, Leather, Logistics, Machinery, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Renewable Energy, Rubber Products, Textile, Travel & Tourism, etc.
