Over eight lakh bank employees will go on strike for five days in January demanding long pending wage revision. The banking union umbrella organization UFBU has decided to observe one day strike on 7th January, 2015 and four days strike from 21st to 24th Januray. The UFBU has also threatened to go on an indefinite strike from 16th March onwards if demands were not met.
The UFBU is an umbrella organization of 9 bank employees and officers unions including AIBEA, NOBW, NCBE, INBEF, BEFE, AIBOC, AIBOA, NOBO and INBOC represents over eight lakh bank employees and officers of 27 Public Sector banks, 12 Private Sector banks and 6 Foreign banks.
The UFBU went on one-day strike on 12th November, 2014 and a zone-wise strike from 2nd Decemeber to 5th December.
All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) in a statement said that Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) representing Banks’s management has taken a casual approach relating to wage negotiations terming the IBA action of asking banks to revisit the mandate given to the IBA for wage negotiations as “nothing but a ploy to delay the negotiation process of wage revision”.
