ASSOCHAM has convened International meet on Buddhist Tourism to promote the significance of the religious sites of Buddhism in India and other South Asian countries on 18th September, 2014 at New Delhi. The forum is an endeavor to facilitate promotion of Buddhist Circuit across Indian sub continent and other neighboring countries of value to Buddhism.
Religious tourist traffic on Buddhist religious circuit in India has been attracting good numbers. India has always been a delight for tourists, especially those interested in history, culture and religion. For Buddhist tourists, India is the land of Buddha, for it was here, in a small town of Bodh Gaya, that the great prince Siddharta attained enlightenment and became Buddha. It was from India that Buddhism flourished and found its way to the other countries of the world.
